RSG Argentina

The Argentine Regional Student Group (i.e RSG-Arg) is a non-profit academic group intended to aid young researchers among the bioinformatics and computational biology fields. Sponsored by the International Society of Computational Biology and partner of an ever-growing world-wide network of regional groups, we aim to help undergrad and graduate students, as well as young PIs, to make the most of their academic development capabilities. We do this by hosting yearly conferences, organizing hands-on workshops/courses, and making career talks with renowned scientists in the field.

Born in 2010, the group has grown to have a rather multifaceted approach that not only has kept the “academic career enhancement” moto, but also moved to new, challenging endeavors like science communication writing, wikipedia hackathon organizing, merchandising design & development, among others. New members are always welcomed to join in and help however the want. Come to the dry side, we have coffee!

OBJETIVO
=======================

El 1er Congreso Internacional en Inteligencia Artificial y Educación (CIIAE) surge como una respuesta innovadora a la intersección entre la creciente influencia de la inteligencia artificial generativa (IAG) y su impacto en el entorno educativo. Bajo el lema “Educar en la era de la inteligencia artificial generativa”, este congreso busca explorar y debatir el papel transformador de la IAG en la educación. La motivación radica en comprender cómo la IAG puede influir en la enseñanza, modificar la experiencia del aprendizaje y preparar a las nuevas generaciones para un mundo en constante evolución tecnológica. Este evento representa un espacio crucial para compartir conocimientos, experiencias y perspectivas que contribuyan al desarrollo de estrategias educativas pertinentes en esta era tan dinámica y cambiante.

EJES DE INTERÉS

Solicitamos contribuciones en todos los temas relacionados con la IA generativa en Educación, centrados en (pero no limitados a) la siguiente lista:

– Material de enseñanza/aprendizaje: Propuestas de recursos de enseñanza que involucren el uso de IAG. Apoyo de la IAG para diseñar material didáctico. Usos de la IA para la generación de contenido personalizado
– LLMs en la práctica educativa: Usos de chatbots como recurso didáctico. Propuestas para el aula. Experiencias de aula. Evaluación de LLMs en distintas áreas disciplinares
– Evaluación: Utilización de IAG para prácticas de evaluación. Desafíos de la evaluación en tiempos de la IAG
– Ética: Cuestiones éticas de la IA generativa en la educación. Aspectos sociotécnicos de la IAG en entornos educativos. Malas prácticas de la IAG en la educación. Acciones para evitar copia y plagio desde la IAG
– Curriculum: IAG y curriculum en diferentes niveles educativos
– Educación STEM: Solicitudes de IAG para educación interdisciplinaria o educación STEM
– Teorías en Educación y modelos de IAG
– Políticas Educativas que consideren IAG
– Formación Docente en tecnologías que incluyan IAG: formación inicial y formación continua
– Otros temas relacionados con el uso de la IAG en educación

Federico Ariel

Federico Ariel (he/him) began his research for his PhD into the role of transcription factors in symbiotic nodule organogenesis in legumes with Dr. Raquel Chan at Instituto de Agrobiotecnología del Litoral (IAL) in Santa Fe, Argentina. In 2010, his work was chosen as the best from all over Latin America by the Brazilian Society of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry. He then obtained a European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) fellowship to join the group of Dr. Crespi at the Institute of Plant Sciences Paris-Saclay (IPS2) in France. During his time at Saclay (2011-2016), Federico pioneered the characterization of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) in plants and contributed to the mechanistic understanding of their role in epigenetics and alternative splicing. In 2016, he obtained a permanent position at the Argentinian Research Council (CONICET) and set up his own group (the Epigenetics and Noncoding RNAs, EPILAB) at IAL, Santa Fe, which currently studies the evolution of lncRNAs and their role in the dynamic 3D organization of the genetic information hosted in the nucleus of plant cells. In 2018, Federico and colleagues formed an International Associated Laboratory between France and Argentina. In 2021, he obtained a short-term Fulbright Scholarship to join John Rinn’s lab (CU Boulder, USA) to undertake research on mammalian lncRNAs. Since his return to his home country, he has won several national and international prizes for his research, such as the recent UNESCO – Al-Fozan Prize in 2023. Federico is a scientist committed to respecting the environment and human health and he is passionate about innovative technologies for sustainable agriculture. In 2022, he co-founded APOLO Biotech, which is dedicated to the development of RNA-based technologies for the protection of crops from pathogens and to enhancing the resilience of plants to climate change in a sustainable manner. Sónia Negrão

Dr. Sónia Negrão (she/her) is an Assistant Professor at University College Dublin and leads the Crop Stress Interaction Lab (CSI-Dublin). Her research focus on the improvement of crops’ tolerance to abiotic stress under changing climate conditions using plant-based imaging phenotyping and exploring underutilised genetic resources. She obtained her Ph.D. from the Instituto de Tecnologia Química e Biológica, Universidade Nova de Lisboa (ITQB-UNL, Portugal), collaborating with the International Rice Research Institute (Philippines) on heritage rice breeding. During her postdoctoral research at ITQB-UNL, she shifted her focus to salinity stress in rice. She also worked as a research scientist at the Salt Lab in King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (Saudi Arabia). With her vast experience working across the globe, she shares her insights into the challenges and opportunities of international research endeavors. You can find her on X: @sonicanegrao.

Felipe Klein Ricachenevsky Dr. Felipe Klein Ricachenevsky (he/him) is an Associate Professor at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Brazil. During his PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology at UFRGS, Felipe was granted internships in different laboratories in the United States, at Dartmouth College, Purdue University, Stanford University and Brookhaven National Laboratory. These experiences allowed him to learn and develop skills such as the use of synchrotron radiation, X-ray fluorescence and computerized tomography to characterize the spatially-resolved accumulation of metals in plants. As a postdoc, these skills were further developed in National Laboratories in Brazil, in Aberdeen University in Scotland and during his postdoc with Prof. Mary Lou Guerinot at Dartmouth. Back in Brazil, in 2015 Felipe joined Federal University of Santa Maria as an Assistant Professor, and has moved in 2020 to his alma mater, UFRGS. He continues to collaborate internationally and was recently granted a Fulbright Scholarship. In his work on ion homeostasis mechanisms and metal transporter characterization in rice and Arabidopsis, he brings together imaging, molecular and physiological techniques to elucidate nutrient dynamics both at steady-state and stress conditions. Amid successful grant applications and a burgeoning career, Felipe makes a point of listing his young daughter, born in 2016, as his main full-time concern, and has been active in the Parent in Science initiative.
